What is saccharin?

Saccharin is an artificial, high-intensity sweetener that is approximately 300 times sweeter than sugar. Saccharin’s usage has been substantially reduced and it has been replaced by many of the newer sweeteners now on the market due to unsubstantiated health concerns.

Where is it used?

Saccharin is primarily used in the tabletop sweetener market and in oral healthcare products.

Saccharin produces an extremely bitter aftertaste with a metallic character that also lingers longer than the aftertastes of other sweeteners.
